"Loco" peg leg for above knee amputee. Long, non-jointed round strut from end of socket to ground. Round peg end. Made by Lynde of Manchester pre 1914.
Made for someone who had had their leg amputated above the knee, this lightweight prosthetic limb was named by its inventor, Frederick Lynde, as the ‘Loco peg-leg.’ This design was intended to be both strong and lightweight and was made at a time when nearly all artificial legs were entirely wooden.
