Parsons' Axial Flow Steam Turbine with dynamo constructed for 60 K.W. Generator, 1901; installed at the National Physical Laboratory where it ran until 1913.

Charles Parson's axial flow steam turbine, 1902. From 1894, the axial flow turbine, of which this is an early example, was adopted almost universally, and is still used in many modern power stations. The turbine used high-pressure steam to operate at approximately 4000 revolutions per minute. It was attached to a dynamo that produced a power output of 60 kilowatts. This set was installed at the National Physical Laboratory, London, where it provided power until 1913.

Pipe has many appendages, such as nuts, it has a corner pipe shape overall, with a handle on the corner. On one end there is a hexagonical nut, on the other there is a screw thread with hollow centre. On corner of pipe there is a square nut. Part is currently of a brass coloured metal and the screw thread end has '781' embossed in the metal.
