[The Field papers: a collection of manuscript and printed material principally relating to the work of Joshua Field as a partner in the engineering firm of Maudslay, Sons and Field. ca.1805-1865. Comprises: volumes 1 and 2 which consist of miscellaneous items bound in chronological order by subject, and volumes 3 to 13 which are single, unrelated works. Vol.1 contains material on ships, marine engines etc; vol.2 contains material on stationary engines and boilers, railways and locomotives, machine tools etc. Volume 7, diary of a tour by Field in 1821 through the manufacturing districts of the Midlands, was transcribed for the Transactions of the Newcomen Society vols. 6 & 13. 13 vols ; 46.5 x 30cm. or less.
