The locomotive is partially in shadow underneath a footbridge, and behind are a water tower and station buildings. A railwayman walks alongside the engine, holding an oilcan, while a porter pushes a luggage trolley over decking laid across the tracks. There are two men on the top of the tender shovelling coal. Framed, unglazed.
