Philips EL3503 audio tape recorder. Serial Number: 2493, c.1959. Mono/stereo professional studio tape recorder. Comprising three parts: tape transport unit, separate electronics rack and small box of spares (heads etc).
These were used by the BBC as broadcast and as master recorders. The BBC Radiophonics Workshop used three of these machines to create delay and looping effects. Many were modified by the BBC.
