Minifon "Hi-Fi" dictation machine, 1961-1967. A high quality cassette-tape-based dictation recorder. Superseding the earlier Minifon which used steel wire as the recording medium. Assumed it was used for note-taking by the BBC. Comprises box containing: recorder, 2 x Dynamic microphone, footswitch, stethoscope headset & spare cassette tapes. The unique Minifon type cassettes were designed for 1 hour (2 x 30 minutes), ½ hour (2 x 15 minutes), and 12 (2 x 6) minutes of recording time. A wide variety of additional accessories were also available for this machine.
