Ronette MC.65 Crystal microphones, 1955. Box of 4 including two black mesh covers, and two leads. Blue sticker on box reads J 2079.

These were cheap high-output small microphones, sometimes lapel-worn for interviews, and also used with miniature tape recorders. Speech quality only. Ronette MC.65 is a pressure-operated diaphragm-type instrument incorporating a Rochelle salt crystal element. It was described by the manufacturers as a 'cartridge' but could be used as a self-contained microphone in any application where there was no danger from mechanical damage, rain or dirt. The microphone was manufactured in Holland by Ronette, and imported by Trianon Electric Ltd. The price to the BBC in April, 1955 was 15s. 6d.
