Forgestone F500 26" Colour Television Receiver

Made:
1979-1980 in Ketteringham and Maidenhead
maker:
Forgestone Colour Developments Limited

Forgestone F500 series 26" colour television receiver, 1979-1980. This set was built from the Forgestone TV kit; with the addition of a Mullard (Philips) Teletext (Videotext) decoder card and ultrasonic remote control. The object was donated along with its manuals and circuit diagrams used by the builder. It is a high quality colour television receiver of its time; with a Mullard Type 20AX picture tube, UHF standard I pin diode tuner, and 11 integrated circuits (entirely solid state). The real wood cabinet is custom-made by the builder and quite attractive.

The ultrasonic remote control was designed by the donor. The Television has no visible control knobs or channel selectors of any kind, very unusual for the time. The remote control worked via an ultrasonic receiver situated below the screen, which is barely visible.

The television was the main household TV from construction in 1979/1980 until the Digital Changeover in 2012. An incredible life span of over 30 years!
