83x95mm red embossed Morocco case, flower design both sides. Single latch. Octagonal gilt mat. Unbound and no frame. 'W M Shew Miniature Case Maker, and Dealer in Daguerreotype Aparatus and Materials, Court Street, Opposite the Head of Hanover Street, Boston' on paper inside. Lined with purple taffeta. 53x67mm daguerreotype three quarter portrait of young lady full face, sitting ny table. Vase of foliage on table. '*' mark on back of copper plate plus '40'. Case c. 1845.
