More
A tenon saw is a common workshop tool that can be found in carpenters' toolboxes across the world. It is used to cut wood and do general wood cutting tasks.
The tenon saw gets its name from the ancient mortise and tenon adhesive-free joint that firmly connects two pieces of wood or other materials. The tenon section is a precisely cut protruding piece that is placed tightly within the mortise hole or groove on the other piece, connecting them together.
The rigid rib that runs along the top of the saw, the ergonomic wooden handle, and the fine, sharp teeth are all designed to ensure the user can cut clean, straight lines in the wood.
This tool was made in Sheffield, once the steel city of the world, famous for making steel-made goods. "Loxley" was a brand name for a range of lesser quality saws made by Sanderson Brothers & Newbould, one of the biggest Sheffield saw firms.
