Quarter-repeating watch movement with dust cap by Vulliamy, c.1800. Heart-shaped hands, typical of Vulliamy watches. No dial. Movement with quarter-repeating work, duplex escapement with compensation curb, and a continental type balance bridge. Signed ‘Vulliamy, London rxu’. Clockmakers' Museum No. 396
This watch has a balance bridge which is not the standard design for a London watch, being more continental in appearance. Its inclusion could suggest that the watch is the work of Justin Vulliamy, who emigrated from Switzerland, but he is believed to have signed his work Justin Vulliamy. It is more likely to be the work of his son Benjamin and grandson Benjamin Lewis Vulliamy who signed their work "Vulliamy".
