Pedometer recording up to a maximum of 100 miles by Benjamin Gray, London, c.1755. Silver case, engraved on the back ‘Made by B. Gray, clockmaker to George 2nd. Given to the Company of Clockmakers by his great-grandson B.L. Vulliamy. 1849’. Protruding push-piece, for operating the pedometer. Silver dial with a central blued-steel hand and three subsidiary dials marked 'C', 'M', and '100M'. The central hand indicates up to 100 steps (1/10th mile) and the three small dials indicate up to 1 mile, 10 miles and 100 miles respectively. Clockmakers' Museum No. 667
