Wax portrait of George Atkins (1766 – 1855) by Richard Cockle Lucas, London, 1852.

George Atkins was a partner in the firm of Brockbanks & Atkins, chronometer makers of Cornhill. He served as Clerk of the Clockmakers’ from 1809 to 1841 and as Master in 1845-1846. The Court of the Clockmakers Company commissioned this portrait in 1852 when Atkins was 85 and ‘Father of the Company’.
