Speed Crazy, 8mm commercial copy

Speed Crazy, produced and commercially issued as 8mm home movie film in 1953-1954 by Walton Films. Speed Crazy is the compilation of two films: one is a speeded-up journey in London’s street, shot from a car; the second is another ghost ride of a train journey London-Brighton, filmed from the front of a locomotive

In 1953 the BBC made the short film ‘London to Brighton in Four Minutes’, a speeded up train journey from London Victoria to Brighton. The film was broadcast frequently and became popular, with new versions produced over time, or other films inspired by this BBC production, such as 'Let's Go to Birmingham' made by British Transport Films (BTF) in 1963. Speed Crazy reuses some of this BBC film footage, with an even shorter edit of the train journey.
