Daily Herald photograph by G. Phillips titled 'Now we know...' Caption reads: 'What people mean when they say that "Music soothes the savage breast'. These boys dressed in furs and loincloths are jazz fans from Worthing, Sussex. They used those huge clubs only to beat out the rythm at the jazz festival held at the home of Lord Montagu of Beaulieu, at Bealieu Palace, Hampshire. "We call ourselves the Barbarians", said their leader, Richard Hallett, 16. "These outfits are just right for jiving in".'
