Saw blade in cardboard box, associated with Supermarine Rolls Royce Seaplane, by Eclipse, Shefiield, United Kingdom

This aircraft became the fastest vehicle on Earth when, on 29 September 1931, it set an absolute speed record of 652 km/h (407.5 mph). Seventeen days earlier the same aircraft had won the Schneider Trophy outright by winning the international contest for the third successive time. The Supermarine S6B floatplane, the Schneider Trophy and the Rolls-Royce R engine used to achieve the absolute speed record are all on display at the Museum.
