Coin, French bronze coinage of 1898. Obv.: REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE. Female bust to right wearing a Phrygian cap Rev.: LIBERTE EGALITE FRATERNITE 1898 10c. A seated figure of Minerva holding in her left hand a branch of olive, and with her right a flag bearing the initials RF on the staff-head; by her side sits a child grasping a hammer and pincers in one hand and a bunch of wheat-ears in the other. Both sides signed DANIEL DUPUIS. Diam. 1 3/16 inch. Given by Monsieur Léonce Bénédite. V&A no. 931A-1898. Originally catalogued with V&A no. 931-1898.
