'Pick of the Pops' in 1894

Want to know Gladstone said in 18..?

Mr. M. L. Lee can tell you; at his home in Colchester, Essex, he is playing over a speech by the Victorian statesman, recorded on an early phonograph.

The speech is the gem of Mr. Lee's unusual collection of 500 of the old-style cylindrical records. Mr. Lee, formally Assistant Postmaster for Colchester, began his hobby of collecting ancient phonographs and cylindrical records in 1902. His oldest phonograph goes back to 1896.
