One magnetic reel-to-reel 1/4" audio tape, oral history interview with Ronald Silverwood, conducted and recorded by David Jenkinson on 8 September 1978. Duration: 30 minutes. Ronald Silverwood talks about his 50-year long railway career, as a driver for Great Central Railway, London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) and British Railways, between 1913 and 1963. He talks about the various classes of engine used at Barnsley on the great Central line. He mentions the Great Western Railway (GWR) in 1930. He also talks about the National Railway Museum and refers to the nameplate of 790 Hardwicke locomotive preserved by the museum.
