One photograph titled ‘Effigies burned at Oxfordshire Tithe Sale’. Caption on the back reads: ‘A large force of police stood guard during a tithe distraint sale at the farm of Mr. C.P. Sanders at Standlake, Oxfordshire. After the sale a demonstration of protest was organised by the Berks., Bucks., and Oxon., Tithepayers’ Association and effigies of Queens Anne and a bishop were burned….’
