One photograph of Drs William Blount (left) and his assistant fitting Betty the white leghorn hybrid chicken with a set of rose coloured contact lenses. Caption on back reads: 'Veterinary surgeon in Poultry, Dr. William Blount of Stoke Mandeville, Bucks, demonstrated the fitting of rose coloured contact lenses to the eyes of a hen at the British Poultrymens Conference at St. Annes, today. He says the lenses make the birds docile and easier to handle'.
