One partial contact sheet featuring two images of men gathered in the bell loft of a church, pulling ropes to ring the bells hung above them, titled '190 years of bellringing'. Caption on back reads: 'On Christmas Day, Newdigate, surrey, population 803, is the little Saxon Church of St. Peters there is going to be a celebration - 66 year old Ted Vine Captain of the Bellringing team celebrates his 50th year as a bellringer. With the exception of the silent years 1940-1941, Ted has rung the bells in this ancient church for 50 Christmasses. George Horley, the village postman, runs him very close with 44 years service. The team of five ringers have a total of 190 years of bellringing between them and many of their Fathers and Grandfathers pealed these bells since they were first installed in 1805. On Christmas day Ted and his team will ring a peal of 720 changes in 28 minutes as a mark of recognition for the Captain's 50th anniversary and Ted is still going strong'.
