Video footage taken on 2nd March 1989 at Weaverthorpe on the Scarborough line, process of trimming oil lamp wick, lighting it, then installing lamp on semaphore signal gantry, with signalman Arthur Hall. Material edited into 'F.N.R.M. Archive Magazine'. Low band, unedited original camera tape. Colour, sound. Duration: 20 minutes maximum

This videotape is part of the a collection of video recordings commissioned by the Friends of the National Railway Museum in the 1980s and 1990s and made by John Spencer Gilks and Gavin Mist. The series of footage intended to be part of ‘FNRM Archive’, a video archive of railway operation at the time, with an emphasis on signalling (level crossings, signal boxes, semaphore signals), also capturing traffic and operations on specific lines prior to their closure. In addition, the series includes a complete record of the restauration work on the 'Duchess of Hamilton' 4-6-2 Coronation class, No 6229, between 1986 and 1990.
