Ferranti AC Test Set

Ferranti AC Test Set. 1930 - 1950.

This A/C electrical test meter was designed to measure voltages and currents in alternating current electric circuits, or for use as a meter on other electrical devices.

It could be used within a range of different voltages. One dial displays voltage and the other the current measured in amperes. It was produced around 1940 by the Manchester-based company Ferranti, part of a range of electrical meters designed for use by electricians. This particular example was used by Percy Skipworth, owner of the small electrical contractor S Charlesworth & Co in Oldham, Greater Manchester, much of whose business was for textile mills.
