Specimen bottle of fustic extract
Fustic is a vegetable extract derived from the wood of Chlorophora tinctorial, a tree growing in North and South America and in the West Indies. The best fustic comes from Cuba. It is a mordant dye and is polygenetic, different shades being obtained when different mordants are used. It is largely used in conjunction with other mordant dyes for dyeing wool and silk.
