This Ordinary touring bicycle touring cycle was built in 1878 by an unknown maker in an unknown location. The bicycle frame is typical of a late 19th century ordinary, with forks connecting the large front wheel to the single curved tubular frame which extends down to the small rear wheel. The saddle located directly on top of the top wheel has sprung bar suspension. Both the 60-inch diameter front wheel and the 24-inch diameter rear wheel have steel rims, hard rubber tyres and radial spokes. Adjustable pedals are fitted directly to the front wheel axle. This example comes with cam-operated spoon brakes.
