Embroidered textile 'Connected by a Thread' by Tina Crawford, 2020. Squares of medical scrubs fabric in three shades of blue, and one black, sewn onto a red velvet background two metres square. Every square has an image embroidered in white, with the thread joining each square to the next. A border of yellow dusters surrounds the whole, with text embroidered in different colours. A number of lined text books with swatches of dyed fabric samples with handwritten notes on types and quantities of dyes used. Textile samples are both natural and synthetic fibres. There are also three handrawn textile designs in one of the larger books. Separate notebook describes the preparation of the textiles prior to dyeing and afterwards. Also includes a copy of The First John Mercer Lecture entitled "Science in an Old Industry" by McCullough and Hibbert. Society of Dyers and Colourists.
