Papers of Peter Kenneth Kersey, Senior Inspector, BR(SR) CM&EE's Department. Mr. Kersey joined the SR at Lancing Works in 1945, and took redundancy in 1988. During his career he attended at accidents, prepared vehicles for Lord Mountbatten's funeral train and for moves from Clapham to York. Papers include career papers, annotated images of accidents mainly involving BR(SR) EMUs, manuscript course notes, breakdown crane manuals, files on the Mountbatten train and York moves, various printed instruction books etc. Currently in 3 archive boxes.

File of papers, paper, card, Papers of John Dixon Abbott - " Motor Rail Ltd. Notes of Historic Interest and Exhibits", 1910-1927, compiled by Mr. Abbott in 1959. Mr. Abbott was the inventor of the 'Simplex' reversing gearbox, and founder with his father John Abbott of The Motor Rail & Tramcar Co. which made Simplex locomotives, petrol-driven double-ended locomotives, usually narrow gauge, employing the gearbox. The papers consist of 18 'exhibits' - brochures, photographs, cuttings and notes illustrating Simplex locomotives along with explanatory notes by John Dixon Abbott. There is particular emphasis on the role of Simplexes in WW1. There is also a history of the firm
