William Froude's automatic roll recorder used to automatically record the rolling of ships at sea, first used on trials of the HMS 'Devastation' in 1873, devised and constructed by William Froude, Torquay, Torbay, Devon, England, 1872 This instrument was modified by Mr Froude in 1882 for trials of HMS Inflexible and a nyumber of other ships. It was last used in 1925 for trials on HMS Vixen [Eduard von Fischer 30/10/12]
