Painting, oil on canvas, Brecknockshire, by Jack Merriott, 1961. Depicts Brecon Castle and the River Honddu. The castle sits on a bluff above the river. There are houses on the banks, including one which overhangs the water below. A man in a yellow shirt sits on the wall next to the river as it flows beneath his feet. To his left are two other men, one watching the river and the other reading a newspaper. A number of others stroll along the street, admiring the views around them. There is a fisherman on the far bank beneath the ruined Brecon Castle. In the distance are the Brecon Beacons. Original artwork for British Railways poster Brecknockshire, Travel by Train. Framed and glazed.
