Painting, oil on canvas, London Midland Electrification' by John A Greene, 1961. Depicts an express passenger train hauled by AL1 class (later known as the Class 81) locomotive No E3005 passing a diesel multiple unit on an adjacent track. Overhead are a gantry and catenary wires set against a blue sky with white and grey clouds. A permanent way gang watch from the lineside. Signed by the artist at bottom left. Framed. Original artwork for British Railways (London Midland Region) poster publicising the electrification of the West Coast Main Line.
