Items found at Hayes Store, to be retained in the hope of finding out to which objects they belong. Note that these objects may be in other collections

Items found with Nasmyth steam hammer but not identified as belonging: a steam valve; a heavy iron bracket (for a valve ?); 2 forged blocks with forks & holes; a pair of heavy links & 2 other pieces all jointed together; a finger spring; a large coarse adjusting key; a sheet-metal guard and a doubled sheet metal spring; four forged bar ends

A pair of bronze drain or indicator cocks (probably for a steam engine) with pipework that sets them at 13 1/2" centres; tapered thread about 5/8" by about 24 t.p.i.; and a bronze lubricating cup and elbow, tapered thread about 1" by about 14 t.p.i.

Curved cover of wooden battens 32" long between iron strips bent to about 7" radius & another wooden cover of similar length, all perhaps from a carding engine, distressed; an elm roller about 13 1/2" long and 2 3/4" diameter with iron pivots, perhaps from a small loom; and another wooden batten. All found with 1934-655 but do not belong

Steel rod 30" x 5/8" diameter with cast fitting clamped by a thumb screw, almost certainly the stop of a power hacksaw; and another length of 5/8" diameter rod with end bent back & 2 collars and spring: perhaps a stop, knock-off or striking rod from a machine tool

Steel shaft 56" long, 1 1/2" diameter, with 2 journals reduced to 1 1/4" at about 37" centres; one journal is at an end and the other is fitted in a self-aligning plummer block marked COOPER (?) PATENT. 2 shafts, lengths 5" and 16 3/4", each with a socket end about 1 1/4" bore and the other end 3/4" diameter formed into 4 splines (possibly motor-car parts); 3 1 1/4" Whitworth nuts; one square and one round washer; an iron piece like a gate pintle; a shackle without a pin, and a spindle 13 1/4" long with male centre one end and female centre at the other. Found with 1931-195 but do not belong

An iron bar about 19 " x 1 3/4" x 1/4" with swellings for 2 holes about 2 1/8" diameter at 10" centres drifted, 6 machine keys and a broken light-alloy casting. Found with 1930-369 but almost certainly do not belong

A quantity of machine parts found in Hayes bay 1 near to 1993-614; includes ratchet fittings, iron castings with slotted holes & a pair of cast gear wheels (one made-up to match the other) suggesting a textile machine
