Tête d'une larve de cousin, grossement 200 diametres by A A Bertsch
Microphotograph salt print entitled 'Tête d'une larve de cousin, grossement 200 diametres', by Auguste Adolphe Bertsch, c 1857.
In the 1850s, keen photographer Auguste Adolphe Bertsch pioneered use of the microscope to take pictures of tiny creatures. While the beautiful images impressed amateur photographers, scientists were not yet convinced. Photography was still not good enough to improve on looking at something directly through a microscope.
