A daguerreotype portrait of a seated woman holding a hat, taken by George Villiers in about 1850. This daguerreotype has been hand-coloured to emphasise the woman's bracelet, the pattern on her skirt and the ribbon in her hair. Her cheeks are also coloured to give a rosy glow. 90x120mm red Morocco leather case with two latches in extremely good condition. Lined with bright crimson plush with rose motif. Rectangular gilt mat with rounded top. Picture bound but no frame. Tarnished badly around edges. 67x95mm daguerreotype three quarter length portrait of lady seated resting elbow on table with lace cloth. Profile. Lady clutching wide brimed hat. Fine lace around sleeves of dress. Tinted. Tarnished.
