Verge escapement watch movement by Thomas Tompion. The movement has a four wheel train and tulip pillars, and is signed ‘T. Tompion London 0598’ c.1692

Tompion began numbering his watches c.1680 onwards, although his early numbering system was convoluted. A '0' before 598 in fact meant number 1598, placing this watch movement to around the year 1692.
