First deposit of the Tawse archive comprising; one BR Guards' Book and five ‘Journey Books’ (numbered 1-5) logging Mr. Tawse’s journeys by rail, road, sea and air in locations including Canada, the UK and Europe, especially Yugoslavia and Romania, spanning August 1968 – March 1972; 23 ‘supplementary files’ containing documents relating to journey book logs (1-5 and Guards Book); 88 envelopes containing prints of photographs taken on journeys; 155 sleeves containing approximately 2,300 35 mm colour transparencies also taken during Mr Tawse’ s journeys outlined in Journey Books 1-5.

The deposit also contains six ‘sub collections’ spanning 1968 -1976; official documents relating to Canada; European timetables and maps (1969); European timetables and maps (1970); Mr. Tawse’ s original documents relating mileage measurement’; Mr. Tawse’ s notes and original material relating to the Greater London Development Plan (GLDP) Inquiry; and ‘general interest’ files (1968- 1976). The larger collection contains ‘administration files’ documenting context of the collection, these will be transferred as a subsequent accrual.
