Original 16 mm film 'Railway: Western region. Albrighton, Hatton junction. Remainder Albrighton-Codsall. Track laying etc. 1960 to about 1965'
- Made:
- 1960-1965 in Wolverhampton
Original 16mm colour footage, filmed and edited by Dr Charles Waine, around 1960-1965. According to a note by the filmmaker, the footage was shot at 16 fps and 24 fps. Most of the shots are taken from the lineside or from a bridge looking over the tracks, and features steam trains. Some shots show permanent way workers and track laying work. 200 feet of footage on 400 feet reel. Approximately 8 minutes.
In 1960, for his 21st birthday, Charles Waine bought himself a Bell-Howell 16mm camera. Using it primarily to film family holidays, he also took advantage of the spare time his job for the Soil survey offered him at the time, to go film the railways nearby. Being friends with a local farmer, he could access his favourite spot on the farmer’s estate, at the East of Albrighton station, a raised-up piece of land that used to be bridge with a view over the railway tracks, perfect for filming.
