Pair-cased watch by Jeremy Gregory, c. 1670. Outer case covered with leather and studded with gold, the inner made of rock-crystal with gilt mounts. Silver dial with decoratively engraved centre and single hand. Movement with verge escapement, tulip pillars and worm-and-wheel set-up regulator. Watch by John Smeaton, York, 1645-1650. Faceted rock crystal case, set in a finely engraved gilt-metal frame. Gilt-metal dial engraved with an angel with outstretched wings, foliage, rabbits and squirrels, and a lakeside scene to the centre. Silver chapter ring and blued steel hand.
