Chuckmuck (length 5 1/10 ins); an unusual example, covered both back and front by brass plates, bearing designs in pierced openwork, allowing thin sheets of talc (now largely broken away) to be seen below; design on flap represents, within a border engraved with a design of dots and angles, two large long-tailed pack-horses, both laden, facing one another; design on back chiefly dots and zig-zag lines; very wide suspension-ring of steel at top; attached thereto, by a cord of catgut, a brass horse-bell; much tinder remains inside.

Chuckmuck (length 3 7/8 ins) plain, with large heavy brass mounts (two corner-plates, four large bosses, and edge strips), both back and front, all bearing rude decorative engraving.

Chuckmuck (length 5 5/8 ins); a particularly-handsome example, of brown tanned leather, with mounts of silver and gold, both back and front, those on flap being also jewelled; mounts consist of four corner-plates (two back, two front) and two large central circular plates (one back, one front); all mounts have narrow edgings of silver, quite plain, enclosing sunken designs of flowers and flowing foliage in gold, richly engraved; a large bead of red coral between two turquoises mounted on each front corner-plate; a large turquoise surrounded by four small beads of red coral mounted on front central plate; on front of steel, a design, damascened in gold, representing two dragons, two laughing pigs, and a character which looks like chu (vermilion); suspension-ring, solid and square, of silver, inlaid with gold; this example has, apparently, never been in use.
