The original Koenig and Bauer's printing press on which the model was scaled was 52" x 35.5" in size and weighed 6.75 tonnes, with details provided in an 1897 Koenig and Bauer catalogue.

Albion hand printing press; main body of press stands on two castings each with two feet and patterned castings. The type is placed on a moving bed which slides horizontally under the press. A lever, pulled horizontally, causes the plate to descend. A tensioning device is contained in the casting at the top, which is also ornate. Made by Harrild & Sons, London, c.1870. No 2796.
