Symmetrical dichlorethylene (CHCl = CHCl) occurs in two forms. Both of these dichlorethylenes are colourless volatile liquids, heavier than water and having a smell somewhat resembling trichlorethylene. Dichlorethylene dissolves all types of oils and fats and waxes and is an excellent solvent for rubber.
