Paper wrapped wire splint, rolled into a cylinder. Paper label adhered to the object reading 'Wire Splint'. Fragment of paper wrapping missing, revealing grid-like wire mesh. Stored inside the first aid kit, used by Rear Admiral R.E. Byrd on exploration flight to the Antarctic, 1930. Made by Burroughs Wellcome and Co., United States, 1928-1930.
