3 flat orange tongue depressors with rounded edges, stacked and wrapped together in brown paper. Label reading 'Tongue Depressor' adhered to the paper wrapping. The paper wrapping is torn in several places, exposing the tongue depressors. Stored inside the first aid kit used by Rear Admiral R.E. Byrd on exploration flight to the Antarctic, 1930. Made by Burroughs Wellcome and Co., United States, 1928-1930
