16mm film, original master ‘Air Raid Precaution, repairing permanent way: Repairing bomb damage to the line in presence of mustard gas, reel 3 of 3’

16mm original film, black and white footage edited with splices, descriptive captions and explanatory drawings. Last reel according end caption. 300 feet on 400 feet plastic canister (approximately 9 minutes).

Men with protective gears and respirators cleaning and repairing tracks, removing damaged rails and sleepers, etc., they keep working without protective gear once tracks have been decontaminated, they are also seen decontaminating the tools they handled and puttiong their working clothes on special bin for decontamination, at the end wagons are filmed running on the tracks. Captions: 1. The relaying gang continue their work. 2. Damaged rails and sleepers are removed. Note tool rack to prevent tool handles becoming contaminated when not in use. 3. Rail tongs are picked up from a barrow and new rails brought in and placed in position. 4. Note that the G.S.O now allows the men to work without respirators as the contaminated area has been covered with fresh ashes. 5. Their task completed, the men proceed to decontaminate tools - wooden parts with bleach cream and metal parts with waste moistened with paraffin. 6. All waste used for decontamination is immediately burned. 7. The last men leave the contaminated area. Their protective clothing is removed and placed in bins to be sent to a decontamination centre. 8. The End
