Mather & Platt electric fire pump, used for driving a sprinkler system at Blackpool Town Hall. cast iron; A centrifugal impeller pump and motor, switchgear, resister bank for starting motor, switchgear and resistor bank (or shunt). The pump is a fine example of a Manchester-built Mather and Platt fire pump. Whereas several steam powered fire pumps of the early twentieth century survive in preservation, this is the only electrically driven pump of its era made by this famous local company which this museum has acquired at the time of writing in 2009.

The information sheets give details of the three systems, and list the types of plants etc which would benefit from their installation. Grinnell, Mulsifyre and Protectospray systems were all sold by Mather & Platt Ltd of Manchester]
