This sub-series consists of draft notations and sketches of notations bound together in three volumes in covers with the title 'John Bull' Volumes 2, 3 and 5 respectively.

The volumes include sheets of notes and notations pasted onto side tabs and then glued onto the edges of the original cut out pages that allows for the the pages of notations to be folded out. It appears that the original pages must have been contemporary newspapers. The volumes may have originally been used to collect newspaper articles relating to the theme of 'John Bull', a contemporary personification of Britain.
