Ampoules of Coramine in original box
Rust coloured cardboard box for 5x1.7cc ampoules (3 remaining) of Coramine, with instruction leaflet. 60 mm x 70 mm x 19 mm. The packet includes a blade used for cutting open the ampoules. The cover of the box reads, ' CIBA BRAND/ Cardiac and respiratory/ stimulant (analeptic)/5/ STERILE AMPOULES/ each containing 1.7 cc/ CORAMINE/.../A 25% acqueous solution of pyridine -B/...for subcutaneous/intramuscular and intravenous administration/...' Coramine, or nikethemide, was used as a cardiac and respiratory stimulant, often used to treat heart failure or respiratory repression from pneumonia or influenza. Made by Society of Chemical Industry Basle, Switzerland (CIBA) and branded for sale in London by CIBA, 1930-1950.
