Arnott-Brown Collection

Collection of 150 8mm films, mostly footage of railways in the United Kingdom filmed between 1960 and 1982. The Arnott-Brown Collection also includes 5 boxes of colour transparencies and a number of black and white prints.

This film is part of a collection of 150 8mm films made by John Arnott-Brown, railway enthusiast and amateur filmmaker. John Arnott-Brown filmed the railways in the United Kingdom, mostly steam, between 1960 and 1982. A few films include footage of railways abroad, especially Europe (e.g. Portugal, Spain). The collection includes 5 larger 400 feet reels of edited footage, whilst the rest of the collection is made of small 50 feet reels of unedited footage.

Original 8mm colour footage, silent, filmed in August 1975 in Shildon, County Durham, England. 25 feet reel. Shildon Calvalcade for 150th anniversary of the Stockton and Darlington railway. Footage content: shots of the locomotives prior to their entry into the public display section. Each locomotive stopped by a man with a flag before being allowed to proceed.
