Copy of a letter sent by a number of scientists connected to the SRC, including Dr. I. Munro, to the Editor of the journal, Nature

The senders of the letter have taken issue with a report by one of the journal's correspondents that was present at the meeting of the SRC at Reading University, which discussed plans for the construction of a dedicated synchrotron radiation storage ring. The correspondent had criticised the plans put foward at the meeting, but those that have sent the letter believe the plan to be well thought out, realistically costed, and will provide the UK with a synchrotron radiation facility that will allow important research to be conducted for the foreseable future.
