Two notebooks containing personal material unrelated to Fred Rich's railway observation, engineering work, photographic activities or other principal record-keeping systems. One volume, titled Cakewalk Log Book (1996), contains handwritten tabular notes relating to late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century musical theatre productions, including Lancers, The Dancing Mistress, The Mousme, Jubilation Day, A Greek Slave, Miss Hook of Holland and A Runaway Girl. The purpose of these notes is unclear, and the notebook appears to have been used for informal or exploratory research.

The second volume is a fragmentary notebook containing sketches and notes relating to aircraft and the Battle of Britain, together with personal account-keeping entries dated September–October 1970. Much of the notebook is blank, and its authorship is uncertain.

Taken together, the notebooks provide evidence of personal interests and activities not otherwise represented within the archive and are grouped separately from Rich's railway, engineering and photographic records.
